1. Determine what you can offer
Candidates seeking a non-executive director should ask a
colleague how they are perceived by others in the workplace, and
what particular skills they bring to the boardroom.

2. Prepare a new "NED" CV
This should be targeted at non-executive appointments, and

Read the local and national press for opportunities. Most
public sector and many private sector positions will be
advertised.
5. Plan training
Plan appropriate formal training, to ensure that you are well
prepared, and demonstrate your commitment to performing the role
well.
